Interdisciplinary care in disorders/differences of sex development (DSD): The psychosocial component of the DSD—Translational research network / Is DSD the same as intersex or the same as hermaphroditism?

One reason clinicians have moved to the term “disorders of sex development” (DSD) for atypical sex development is because they could not agree on what conditions the term “intersex” covered. Clinicians have also moved away from calling any condition “hermaphroditism” or “pseudo-hermaphroditism” because those terms are scientifically outdated and stigmatizing.
