Kathy is an attending pediatric surgeon with Pediatric Surgeons of Phoenix. Dr. van Leeuwen is the Director of The Reproductive Anomalies Clinic at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Since 2008, the clinic has been serving the complex needs of patients with a disorder of sexual development (DSD). Dr. van Leeuwen believes education and an open dialogue with patients and their families to be key components of providing exceptional care. The clinic’s multidisciplinary staff, including social work and psychology, works with patients to teach them about their diagnosis, manage their conditions, and offer skills and techniques to help them achieve an overall sense of well-being. Dr. van Leeuwen attended college at the University of Southern California and completed her medical training at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. Dr. van Leeuwen completed her general surgery training and fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. van Leeuwen returned to Phoenix in 2005 to practice pediatric surgery. She is board certified in general and pediatric surgery.
